		<description>This is a strong concept, in my opinion.  

Since the '70s the number of Realtors in the United States has grown from around 200,000 to over 1.3 million.  If I pay a Realtor $15,000 to sell my $250,000 house I'm not only paying for the hours that he spends helping me - I'm also paying for all the hours spent at PTA meetings, chamber of commerce meetings, networking, and doing all of the things that he has to do to compete with the other 1.3 million Realtors for a finite number of listings.  

Bravo to you for trying to get a new business model out there.  Too bad the NAR leadership doesn't seem to get it - they've bet the farm on trying to defend the status quo.</description>

I came out of the software consulting world (I was marketing director for a consulting firm before I went into real estate) and I really think that what we do is very similar in that we are "selling the invisible" and one of the big challenges is having our clients understand our value--what they get for the money.  

In consulting, if a client wanted to have us implement a software package, we would do our proposal for the total job, and then break it out into an hourly fee for each individual task that needed to be done.  Yes, a bid of a million dollars to implement software might be a lot of money, but then when we showed them EXACTLY what we were doing for that dollar amount, and they understood the improvements to their business that our methods would provide, the lightbulb would go on and they would "get it."

I think that a similar model--fee for service or something like it--would work for real estate.  And I think long-term, it's where we're headed.</description>
